There seems to be a long history of people proposing with card games. Richard Garfield, the creator of Magic: the Gathering, proposed to his wife by creating a custom card called Proposal. And given the close ties that Ascension has with Magic, it only seems fitting that a proposal has happened – just in time for Valentine’s Day!
The Official Ascension Blog has the full story of how Alan Gerding asked for some unique help proposing to Crystol Shelton. So with some fancy work, a custom card was crafted for Alan’s portal deck – Ring of Gerd! You can’t see it in the video above very well, so here is the actual card:
Boy did he get lucky that it didn’t get immediately banished from the center row! Now, I haven’t any idea how you would acquire a card with cost of 1 heart (or how much honor two hearts are worth), so the fantastic folks as Gary Games took it all one step further by making the Ring of Gerd into a whole new card that can be added to our own center decks at home: Ring of Life!
For any Lifebound druids out there, the Ring of Life is bound to turn a few heads. The ability to turn an additional faction into Lifebound makes your unite spells that much stronger in Storm of Souls, and can quickly allow your deck to take off thanks for some extra Rune production.
Ring of Life will be available at Game Day locations around the country this February.
